Construction of the new terminal started in 2017 when the airport has received a $40 million grant to renovate the terminal. After the renovations and expansion, the airport was transformed from an outdated crowded facility into a state-of-the-art hub. The 19-month projects solved a lot of issues for an aging facility that was getting increasing use but was not able to handle larger aircraft. Almost every part of the airport went through the upgrade, including a new restaurant and bar and improvement for the control tower. The new design improved the overall look of the facility.

The Elmira Corning Regional airport consists of one Terminal with six gates. The terminal is located on the ground level. After passing through all screening and security procedures, passengers are welcomed to move to the boarding area.
